AKR Land and AccorHotels To Develop Novotel & Ibis Hotel in GEM City

SURABAYA, 17th September 2015 – AKR Land Development and AccorHotels signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understandings) on future development of hotel to increase Novotel and Ibis hotel chain in GEM City, the latest signature development from AKR Land. Both hotels, Novotel (200 rooms) and Ibis (250 rooms), will support business and tourism development in Gresik area and its surroundings.
The MoU is signed in Surabaya on 17th September 2015 by Widijanto, Managing Director AKR Land and Rio Kondo, Vice President Development dan Executive Director, AccorHotels for Malaysia and Indonesia.
"We had established a great partnership with AccorHotels since long time ago, even more than 10 years, which means already a decade old. We believe in AccorHotels capabilities to manage our hotel properties by looking at their excellent work from all these time," said Widijanto, Managing Director of AKR Land.
In 2003 for the first time AKR Land established partnership with AccorHotels. "We built Novotel Bali Nusa Dua & Residences 12 years ago. Our partnership then continued with the development of Novotel Manado Golf Resort & Convention Center in 2008. These two properties have been very successful and satisfactory for us," added Widijanto.
"AccorHotels is a famous and reliable hotel operator with the largest chains in Asia Pacific and Indonesia, offers plenty of options in hotel rooms catergories from luxury category to premium budget. The development of the two hotels in GEM City, is in line with AccorHotels' focus in upcoming years which is to support the development in East Java. Novotel as well as Ibis Hotel will provide a variety of multibranded international standard options of accomodation, for businessmen or tourists visiting Gresik area", said Rio Kondo representing AccorHotels.
"The existance of these two hotels will complete each other," said Widijanto. Furthermore, GEM City is a new city that is built phase by phase to support the development of Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE). Located in North Gresik, this port will become the largest port in Indonesia. JIIPE is also planned to be the center of new industrial development to support the economy in East Java and Indonesia as a whole.The development of this industrial area will also be supported with a deep sea port. The development of GEM City is to support the accomodation for workers and expatriates which amount will be very significant.
Novotel and Ibis Hotel are different hotel brands that cater to different segment, which is very suitable to support GEM City. "Any companies having business in GEM City and JIIPE can choose a suitable accomodation based on the position of the staffs or executives", closed Widijanto.
